So. Fla. church members hopeful after fire
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida congregation is keeping the faith after its church went up in flames.
The All Saints Catholic Mission held Sunday's Palm Sunday services at their soup kitchen down the street.
Flames destroyed their tabernacle and ceiling near Powerline Road and Northwest 34th Street, Wednesday.
Within hours, the church received about $6,000 in donations and plenty of volunteers. "I've always had a positive attitude about humanity," said Father Bod Caudill. "I know that when your fellow man is in a ditch, someone will pick you up like a fellow Samaritan. It always happens."
He's expecting the church to be all cleaned up in about two weeks and noted a sign that everything will be OK: The fire ravaged everything but a picture of a smiling Jesus, left in the center of the damage.
