Carrolton School choir to sing in Vatican City
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Students from a South Florida school have arrived in Vatican City Thursday morning for an upcoming Easter performance.
The high school girls from Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart's Choir are scheduled to perform at Easter mass in St. Peter's Square on Sunday.
The group departed from Miami International Airport to the sovereign city-state Wednesday. "We're super-excited. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The girls and the parents and their families are extremely excited," said choir director Dr. Walter Busse.
The trip is more than a year in the making. "We're really nervous. It's been so long, so it kind of all feels like a dream. It's crashing over us now that it's a reality," said choir member Ashley Alvarez.
The school will join the Sistine Chapel Choir for the service.
Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world are expected to attend.
