Police investigate shooting involving small child
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) - Police are investigating a shooting involving a 4-year-old girl.
Just after 6 p.m., police arrived to the scene where they said a child was reportedly shot while inside of a white Mercedes-Benz.
The child was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center.
Police believe she was shot in a critical place, somewhere in the upper body.
Police are questioning friends and family. "She is a sweet little girl. Precious little girl. It's sad," said Sonia Wheelers.
Detectives said the investigation will be tedious. "Obviously, this is a sensitive investigation," said Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland. "With that investigation, we have so many different components. We have a crime scene component in the vehicle where the young girl was shot. The investigative component, including interviews with everybody here. As many of you know, we will be looking at who this firearm belonged to, where the firearm was in the vehicle at the time and along with who was present when the child was shot."
No arrests have been made.
