So. Fla. Powerball winners share winnings with stranger
PLANTATION, Fla. (WSVN) -- A group of lucky lottery winners shared their wealth with the woman who sold them the ticket.
Marleny Garcia arrived at the Keller Williams Realty Office in Plantation to a heroine's welcome. "Thanks a million!" yelled the winners.
"I can't believe it," said Garcia. "Thank you. Muchas gracias."
Garcia sold the 12 employees the winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million where she works at a Mobile gas station in Pembroke Pines on Taft Street and Flamingo Road.
Reporter: "Ask her if she brought me a ticket."
Garcia said that's all she hears now at work.
"She's happy that we won," said one of the winners translating for Garcia, "and she gets a lot of people in the shop saying, 'Give me the winning numbers!' But she tells them, 'It's not up to me!'"
This is the second time the 12 winners have generously shared some of their wealth. Last week, the new employee who could not afford to chip in $20 for the office pool received a huge contribution from the 12 who could. "I think it's the most generous thing they could have done for me considering. They barely know me," said Jennifer Maldonado.
Garcia received an undisclosed amount of cash.
