Man holding woman hostage surrenders
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man who had been allegedly holding a woman hostage with a knife surrendered to police on Wednesday.
The suspect surrendered immediately after the SWAT team rolled up onto the scene.
According to police, there was a dispute between a man and a woman that escalated when the man allegedly presented a knife.
The man refused to let the police come inside the building, located on at 71st Street and Harding Avenue. By the time the SWAT team arrived, the man walked out of the building and gave himself up.
Prior to that, the woman inside the same building also came out.
Police said the office building manager had called the police because she had initially heard a lot of noise and screaming, at around 11:30 a.m.
Police closed off the west side of Harding Avenue at 71st Street all the way to Abbott Avenue for about an hour.
