Estefans debut new headphones at Target
MIAMI (WSVN) -- A Grammy-award winning producer is introducing the "Sound Machine" headphones for Latin music in mind.
Target and 19-time Grammy-award winning producer and entrepreneur Emilio Estefan, along with Monster, have teamed up to introduce premium Sound Machine by Monster headphones. "I think people are going to listen to music in a different way. I'm so lucky that Target got involved," said Estefan.
The headphones will debut exclusively at select Target stores and Target.com beginning on April 14. "I'm extremely happy. We spent one year designing the headphones," said Estefan. "I'm excited about it, and I love the name Sound Machine."
The headphones are designed with Latin music in mind, capturing the rich, percussive nature of the music. They will retail for $149.99 and $249.99 in both on-ear and over-ear versions.
Everything from the sound to the color was inspired by the Miami culture. "I'm Miami baby. Miami all the way. I want people to take these all over the world," said Estefan.
The lightweight on-ear headphones feature controls for the user's phone and music. The over-ear headphones feature plush cushions for noise isolation, as well as DJ-style swiveling earcups and advanced deep bass technology. "The sound that came out of Miami was a lot of percussion, a lot of horns, and I think the amount of time that we spent doing these headphones, people are going to notice that," said Estefan.
When asked if Gloria approved of the product, Emilio said, "She loved it. I played it for her, and she liked it. She said, 'I love this; it sounds great,' so I was very pleased with not only Gloria, but my kids, they love the sound," said Estefan. "That was my first test, and I passed that."
The CEO of Monster said he is thrilled about the new product. "With these headphones, it sounds exactly as if Emilio would record in the studio. There is no difference. It has transparency, clarity, speed, articulation," said Noel Lee.
The debut of these premium headphones is an expansion of the Target and Estefan partnership, which was announced last year.
