Flatbed truck accident causes traffic delays, no injuries
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police said a flatbed truck accident triggered a chain reaction crash that involved two other vehicles in Downtown Miami, Wednesday.
Miami Police and fire rescue units arrived at the scene of the multi-vehicle collision in the area of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 12th Street, sometime after 6:30 p.m. Officials said the truck hit a pillar under the MacArthur Causeway, causing two heavy engine parts on the back of the truck to fall off. One of these fell on a car, which in turn hit another car.
There were no injuries reported. The woman whose car was flattened by the first piece of machinery emerged unscathed.
Authorities shut down one westbound lane of the causeway while they removed the engine parts. Northbound traffic was diverted onto the causeway and southbound traffic was diverted around the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
The driver of the flatbed truck was cited by authorities for failure to secure his equipment.
