Man allegedly linked to student brownie incident arrested
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police arrested a man on drug charges Thursday night after paramedics were called to a South Florida school earlier that day to treat students who had eaten brownies and then gotten sick.
Police said nine students at Miami Coral Park Senior High School were taken to the hospital after eating the baked goods, which were apparently laced with drugs. "A girl called me and said a guy was selling or giving away some brownies and some brownies was with ecstasy," said parent Cecilia Maltilla.
Authorities said they identified and arrested 22-year-old Dionisio Lockridge after they seized large amounts of drugs in his home. Brownies were also recovered and taken in for testing.
Lockridge, who is not a student at the school, faces multiple charges, including possession of cocaine, Xanax and marijuana. He is being held on a bond of $20,000.
According to the school board, all nine students will be suspended.
Police continue their investigation.
