MIA offers program to avoid long lines
MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WSVN) -- Miami International Airport is now offering a faster way to get through security.
Authorities are opening enrollment for the Global Entry Program. The program is available to low risk, pre-approved international passengers.
It allows members to walk through a separate kiosk for an automated inspection, rather than wait in line to be processed by a security officer.
Program member Sara Brenner said, "You don't have to wait three to seven hours. You go right through. You're pre-approved. There's a kiosk. I walk and everyone else waits three to seven hours."
Deputy Director at Miami International Airport Ken Pyatt added, "Approved applicants will avoid long lines and clear the federal processing in a few minutes while having the opportunity to use express lanes at TSA checkpoints."
Officials expect the program to reduce wait times by more than 70 percent.
