So. Fla. Venezuelans continue to show support for Capriles
COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Local Venezuelans showed support for the opposition leader after his defeat in last week's election.
Hundreds marched for Henrique Capriles after losing last week's election to Hugo Chavez's chosen successor, Nicolas Maduro.
Capriles claimed the election was tampered with, initially asking for a manual recount but now accepting an electronic audit for next week.
The rally was held Sunday at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove. "We're here to ask for a recount of our votes," said Virginia Calcano. "There has been fraud committed, evidence of fraud. There's an influence of Castro regime in our country, and they're taking away our democracy, and we're here to fight for that."
Maduro spent Saturday with the presidents of Cuba and Nicaragua while tweeting he discussed the country's future plans.
