Bomb squad detonates suspicious packages
MIAMI (WSVN) -- The bomb squad was called to two different scenes of suspicious packages Monday morning.
The first was found near historic Overtown in the area of Northwest First Avenue and Eighth Street. Miami-Dade Transit officials shut down part of transportation on Eighth Street and provided bus shuttles to transport passengers.
The package was detonated and officials have since cleared the scene safely.
The second suspicious package, which was described as a briefcase, was found in the area of 3100 NW 74 Ave. in Northwest Miami-Dade, just half a block from a postal office. Officials closed down the northbound and southbound lanes of 31st Street.
The bomb squad has since detonated the briefcase. All lanes have reopened.
