Surveillance video captures hotel robbery
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- Newly released surveillance footage captured a robbery at the front desk of a South Florida hotel.
Authorities said the Jan. 31 footage shows a bald man in his early forties or early fifties speaking with an employee at the front desk of the Universal Palms Hotel along Northwest Ninth Avenue and 49th Street in Oakland Park. The next day, the same man returned to the hotel and paced the lobby for about 20 minutes. He then approached the front desk, took a gun out of a bag and demanded money from the two employees at the counter.
The clerks gave the robber an unspecified amount of cash from the registers and the perpetrator left the premises.
The victims believe they have seen the suspect in the area before the robbery but have not seen him since. According to officials, he is a white male who stands approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds.
If you recognize the suspect or have any information about this robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
