FHP to arrest suspect in fatal wrong way crash
MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Florida Highway Patrol will be taking a man into custody who they said killed four people on Interstate 95 in a wrong-way wreck last month.
Willie Dumel will be in FHP custody after he is released from the hospital, Wednesday. He faces four counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving with a suspended license.
On April 3, FHP said, Dumel drove northbound on the southbound lanes of I-95 near Ives Dairy Road and crashed into a vehicle killing the four passengers who were all visiting South Florida. The four victims include, a Naval Officer, a single mother of a 2-year-old, a businessman and a visitor from the Philippines.
Dumel only broke his legs in the crash. He was treated at Memorial Regional Hospital and has now recovered and will be spending the night in the Miami-Dade County Jail.
