Suspect in deadly wrong-way collision jailed
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- The suspect in a deadly wrong-way collision that claimed four lives moved from a hospital bed to a jail cell.
Twenty-five-year-old Willie Dumel was wheeled out on a stretcher at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Wednesday afternoon. Florida Highway Patrol deputies then took him to the Miami-Dade County Jail.
Authorities said Dumel drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 during a police chase on April 3, causing a crash that killed four people. He was going northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway north of Ives Dairy Road.
FHP officials have charged him with four counts of vehicular homicide and driving with a suspended license.
