Miami Beach commissioner calls for Fire Rescue audit
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A city commissioner is demanding answers following the results of a Miami Beach Police investigation into the fire rescue dispatcher delay that ended in a man's death.
Commissioner Ed Tobin is calling for an independent audit of the Miami Beach Fire Department after a city dispatcher took 14 minutes to send help to a man's Venetian Islands home on March 5. It took fire rescue another 10 minutes to arrive. The 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miami Beach Police investigators has recommended that dispatcher's termination.
