Police continue to investigate high-rise shooting
MIAMI (WSVN) -- For the second day, City of Miami Police combed for clues at a high-rise where three men were shot over the weekend.
The crime scene stretched across several floors of a South Florida high-rise Sunday, at around 10:30 in the morning, as police investigated the multiple shooting that sent three men to the hospital, one of them in critical condition.
Jennifer took cell phone video of the aftermath and asked not to have her face on camera, as she described the scene. "You can just see that somebody, whoever it was, was struggling, the blood on the side and the hand prints. It was messy. It was really messy."
Investigators shut down most of the Opera Tower as they first investigated the well-known high-rise, located on 17th Street and Bayshore Drive in Downtown Miami. A trail of blood stretched from one of the elevators, down stairways and across doorknobs. "When the elevator opened, there was blood all over it, fresh blood, like bright red," said Yasmin Mattox.
Moments after the shooting, the bullet-riddled bodies of the three men involved began arriving at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Two of the victims were listed in stable condition. The third male was rushed into surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition. A motive for this shooting remains a mystery.
Jennifer said she knows the men shot by their faces, and noted that they live in the building. Asked if they were involved in anything suspicious, she said, "No, no. I don't think so. I mean, I haven't experienced any."
If you have any information on this triple shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
