Aguirre hosts So. Fla. mentoring program fundraiser
WATSON ISLAND, Fla. (WSVN) -- A luncheon hosted by 7News' Louis Aguirre celebrated the young members of Honey Shine, a South Florida-based mentoring program.
The 11th Annual Honey Shine "Hats Off" Luncheon was held Tuesday afternoon by the program's founder, Tracy Mourning, the wife of former Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning, at Jungle Island. The event is the nonprofit organization's annual fundraiser and biggest party.
The luncheon honored the most distinguished "Honey Bugs," the name given to the girls being mentored through the program. According to the program's website, "Honey Shine's mission is to encourage the balance of mind, body and soul in girls and young women by providing nurturing experiences that enlighten their paths and empower their future."
