Will Smith, Jaden Smith discuss new film, science awareness
COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Actors Will Smith and Jaden Smith discussed their screen work together in their new science fiction film "After Earth" during an appearance in South Florida to promote the summer movie's upcoming release.
The father-and-son onscreen team attended the meet-and-greet at the Miami Science Museum. They talked with fans and also presented the museum with a check to fund a science program for 1,100 kids. "We thought it was hugely important," said Will Smith.
The Oscar-nominated actor revealed it was his son's idea to incorporate science awareness into the promotional campaign for "After Earth." "Jaden, it was his idea to put some of the promotional ideas into science and education," Will Smith said. "For us, working on this film, it was a huge educational experience."
The Smiths' new movie chronicles the crash landing of a teenager and his father who become stranded on Earth years after humanity's destruction. It opens nationwide May 31.
