Locals try their luck at Powerball
NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Millions of Americans are feeling lucky Saturday night as they ignored the odds and dropped a few bucks for a chance at a life-changing amount of cash.
There are 600 million reasons why these people have got company literally stretching from coast to coast.
The powerball frenzy in South Florida is at a fever pitch.
Reporter: "What would you do if you win?"
Raymond Castillo: "I really wouldn't want to think about it. I think I'd go crazy if that happens. Let's get there."
"Me and my wife are generous people and of course, pay some bills," said another man.
If the winner opts for the lump sum, they would be bringing home $376.9 million, making one of these little pieces of mobile Italian art available for rent at Prestige Auto in Miami Springs, easily affordable. "The price range, more or less, is $300,000 to $400,000. To rent ,it's $1,800 a day," said Rochell Collado.
You could buy a separate car for every day of the year and still have plenty of money to splash out on this $9 million penthouse and a yacht slip at the soon-to-be-built Marina Palms Yacht Club and Residences in North Miami Beach. "It's a combination of our grand penthouse," said Sales Executive Jennifer Markovich, "4,300 square feet featuring unobstructed waterfront views and a 69-foot Ferretti yacht in addition to a 70-foot boat slip."
But if you want an even bigger boat, why not pick up one of these stunners seen at the Miami Beach Yacht and Brokerage Show?
A pricey one will only set you back $60 million.
Even with crazy odds of winning the whole jackpot, hopefuls are dreaming they will beat long odds: 175.2 million to one. "It keeps raising, but I'm going to play at least one number twice."
