MIAMI (WSVN) -- Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade honored a 10-year-old South Florida girl during Tuesday night's game.
James and Wade wrote "Live Like Bella" on their shoes in memory of Bella Rodriguez-Torres, who lost her battle with cancer Tuesday.
The little girl's life was documented on social media, reaching thousands of people on Facebook and Twitter. Her family and friends wrote,"#LiveLikeBella" to try to get the heat players to write the message on their shoes.
Their efforts proved to be successful, adding another element to the game. "It's just basketball, it's just basketball," said James. "You have a little girl or any kid that loses their life over an illness, it's sad; it puts everything in perspective."
Bella had been fighting a rare form of cancer since she was 4 years old.
The viewing for Bella is scheduled for Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Funeral Home in Kendall. Mass is Friday at 1 p.m. at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Miami.
