Cyclist shot multiple times, pronounced dead at JMH
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for the person or persons involved in the fatal shooting of a man who was out riding his bicycle, officials said.
The shooting took place Tuesday night in the area of Northwest 13th Avenue and 58th Street. Investigators said the man was shot multiple times, including across the face. "We can say that this John Doe was possibly somewhere between 25 to 30 years old," said Miami Police Officer Kenia Reyes.
"All I heard was, like, a couple of gunshots, like, four or five, and then not too long after that I heard the police," said Guita Nelson, who was near the scene of the shooting but did not see the incident. "So, I figured, like, 'Oh, maybe something really happened,' because you can hear shots all the time, but [if] you don't hear the police, then it's not really much."
Police said the victim threw down his bike and managed to run to a nearby yard, where he collapsed. Fire rescue crews rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they do not have a motive or eyewitnesses at this time. "At this point, we have very little information," said Reyes. "We do need the community's input."
If you have any information on this shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
