Campaign manager for Suarez mayoral bid resigns
MIAMI (WSVN) -- The campaign manager for Miami mayoral hopeful Francis Suarez has resigned two days after becoming the target of a ballot fraud investigation by election officials.
Juan Pablo Baggini was Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez' right hand man in his bid for Miami city mayor. Police raided his Southwest Miami-Dade home on Thursday after the Miami-Dade Elections Department found that 20 absentee ballot requests all came from Baggini's computer.
Suarez insisted his manager did not intentionally break the law. "As I've said throughout, i'm confident that once the investigation is concluded that all the authorities will acknowledge that every single request form was filled out by a voter of the City of Miami," he said.
The city commissioner has been campaigning on a platform that includes bringing ethics back to Miami politics.
