Thieves ransack pregnant woman's home
NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A home burglary in a Northwest Miami-Dade home has left a pregnant woman in tears. She said the crooks took just about everything, and it could not have come at a worse time.
It was Monday evening when Patricia Nelson got to her home off 13th Avenue and 150th Street in Northeast Miami-Dade. She noticed the back door was open. "When I went inside my home I saw everything was upside down," said Nelson.
She and her husband have worked for years to provide their family with everything they need, and it took thieves only a few minutes to ransack their home and steal everything they could get their hands on.
Nelson is six months pregnant with her third child. Besides stealing electronics and jewelry, the thieves also stole items the family had stored for the baby. "Even my baby stuff! They took it. They took everything," said Nelson. Her husband added, "Quilts that we had for the baby over here. They get everything."
The homeowners suspect the robbers ripped through the window screen in the bathroom, and then ransacked the home.
Police believe the crooks fled through the back door.
Nelson said they no longer feel safe in their own home, and even though she knows all her belongings are long gone, she is asking for the thieves to return just one thing, no questions asked. "Just give me my immigration papers. That is all I'm asking," said Nelson.
