Miami (WSVN) — A former teacher was arrested for possession of child pornography. The charges resulted from an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
On Tuesday, the Greater Miami Hebrew Academy was advised by HSI that 64-year-old Theodore Nusbaum had been arrested for alleged possession of child pornography on his home computer.
According to court documents, HSI special agents discovered Nusbaum, of North Bay Village, had received child pornography. Through further investigation it was determined that the IP address used to receive child pornography belonged to Nusbaum. If convicted on all counts, he faces a possible maximum sentence of up to 50 years in prison.
Nusbaum had been employed by the Hebrew Academy for seven years before he was placed on a personal leave of absence in October of 2012 to ensure no interaction with the community. Nusbaum moved out of the state shortly thereafter.
