Authorities shut down illegal slaughter house
MIAMI (WSVN) -- An eight-month undercover investigation by the animal recovery mission revealed a brutal case of animal abuse.
Several people are now facing charges, responsible for an illegal animal slaughter house in South Miami.
The state attorney's office released disturbing undercover video taken by Richard Couto and the Animal Recovery Mission reveal a pig being weighed and wildly running around.
"The crimes on this property over the eight months that we've documented are everything from stabbing animals to death unstunned, skinning them, boiling them, sawing heads off animals with very dull blades, and the operators taking enjoyment out of it." Couto said.
The slaughter house, located at 25775 SW 177th Avenue, was the site to where live pig, sheep and rabbit were sold and butchered. Birds, pigeons, ducks and chicken were also rescued during the raid.
Daniel Lombana, Andre Pablo Martinez and a third man have been charged with several counts of animal cruelty.
