Mother arrested for torturing son
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- An Oakland Park mother was arrested on Thursday after she allegedly burned, beat and caged her 10-year-old son.
According to police, 36-year-old Carline Germaine, a surgical tech at Mercy Hospital, caught her son stealing $50 from her wallet back in April. As punishment, she heated a knife on a stove and burned the child's arms.
Police said, she also beat the child violently and left visible sores and scars on his body.
According to the Department of Children and Families, there was an open case with Germaine that was closed in April.
She is being held on $50,000 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with her son. The boy has since been sheltered.
Germaine was charged with cruelty toward a child, torture and caging a child. She is currently pregnant.
