Police: Woman stabbed, robbed at convenience store
NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a knife-wielding robber who stabbed a woman after she made a withdrawal from an ATM at a convenience store.
The attack happened at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the USA Food Store on Southwest 81st Avenue and Seventh Place. "She came inside to use the ATM, she took some money out, and she purchased something from the store," said store owner Sohel Rana. "As soon as she walked out, within a minute she came back in and said, 'Somebody just robbed me, I have a stab in my stomach.'"
Investigators said the woman was approached by the knife-wielding robber and stabbed near a dumpster just outside the convenience store. The crook snatched her purse and fled on foot.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the woman in her late 40s was transported to Universal Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Residents who live in the area said they are concerned for their safety. "I'm a father of five, and that's the nearest store to my house," said Audwin Saint.
Rana said this is not the first time something like this has happened at his store. "This is second time this happened in six months," he said.
If you have any information on this aggravated robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
