Police: Crooks rob McDonald's customers at gunpoint
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Nearly a dozen customers have been robbed by two masked men at a South Florida McDonald's.
The robbery happened Wednesday, just after midnight, at the McDonald's at 3200 S. Dixie Highway in Coconut Grove. Customers said two men with masks entered the dining area of the 24-hour restaurant demanding money.
Investigators said the crooks robbed 10 customers of their cell phones and other belongings.
Police said a couple hours later, two men robbed another McDonald's not too far away. According detectives, at about 3:44 a.m., the men held up customers at the McDonald's on 1016 W. Flagler St.
"They went in, guns drawn, they put everyone to the floor," said Michael Quintana, one of the robbery victims. "As soon as everyone got to the floor, one of the guys comes over to the other side and pulled a concealed weapon on me, he took the laptop away from us and the iPhone."
Authorities are now trying to determine if the two robberies are connected.
Police arrested two men nearby but have not said if these are the men responsible for these robberies.
McDonald's released a statement saying, the safety of their customers is their number one priority and they are working with Miami Police to sort the issue out.
