Woman speaks after attack by knife-wielding robber
NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Just One Station has caught up to the South Florida woman who was stabbed while conducting a transaction at an ATM, Tuesday night. She left the hospital Wednesday morning and is now sharing her frightening story.
"I walked through here, and he grabbed my arm. He said, 'Give me your wallet,' and he stuck the knife in me," said Bee Parham. "I wish I would've been able to catch him and shown him how to use it, I would've beat the crap out of him."
Parham was attacked by a knife-wielding robber, around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the USA Food Store on Southwest 81st Avenue and Seventh Place. "She came inside to use the ATM, she took some money out, and she purchased something from the store," said store owner Sohel Rana. "As soon as she walked out, within a minute, she came back in and said, 'Somebody just robbed me; I have a stab in my stomach.'"
Investigators said the woman was approached by the robber and slashed near a dumpster just outside the convenience store. The crook snatched her purse and fled on foot.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the woman, who is in her late 40s, was transported to Universal Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Residents who live in the area said they are concerned for their safety. "I'm a father of five, and that's the nearest store to my house," said Audwin Saint.
Rana said this is not the first time something like this has happened at his store. "This is second time this happened in six months," he said.
USA Food Store clerk Rahamat Ulla said he is nervous about coming back to work after the events that unfolded the night before.
According to neighbors, the robber fled the area and ran into an nearby neighborhood. The suspect is described as a 5 feet 9 inches tall black male, with short hair, weighing around 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Miami Heat T-shirt, shorts and black shoes.
