Man wanted in murder arrested and charged
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (WSVN) -- Police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old man with first degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing a man back in March.
Efram Zimbalist Fitzapatrick, was taken into custody Friday and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and first degree murder.
According to officials, on March 3, 24-year-old Demetrius Jones was walking along Northwest 63rd Street and 18th Avenue in Northwest Miami-Dade, when he was shot and killed by a driver in a maroon Nissan Maxima. According to reports, the car stopped and Fitzapatrick and an unknown male exited the vehicle. Fitzapatrick then shot the victim again, returned to the Maxima and fled the area.
A medical examination revealed Jones had been shot multiple times in the torso, face, neck and legs. Police recovered 14 assault rifle casings from the the scene.
Fitzapatrick is being held without bond.
