Police search for tips in deadly home invasion
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are going door-to-door in a South Florida neighborhood in search of tips after a young woman was killed during a home invasion.
The search continues for two men who shot and killed 28-year-old Guerline Noel after storming into her home, Wednesday night.
North Miami Beach Police detectives have distributed flyers and placed automated calls to homes in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and 175th Terrace on Friday. "It is very important that we go back to the area and see if anyone, by any chance, heard anything," said North Miami Beach Police Major Kathy Katerman. "Now, granted, this was very late at night, almost 1 a.m., but you never know, someone might have been up using the bathroom."
According to police, Noel was followed into her home by two men, and came face-to-face with her husband. "They said, 'We need everything you guys have inside the house,' so I said, 'We don't have anything so what ever you see here just take it, just don't shoot no one,'" said Noel's husband Clauvens Cenor.
Cenor said the gunmen locked him and Noel in the bathroom. Cenor was able to escape through a window to get help, when he returned, he found his wife shot to death. "You can see like four, five, six bullets in the middle of the bathroom door. I saw my wife laying down on the floor inside the bathroom," he said.
"Every home invasion, some are targets some are random, so we are not ruling out anything at this time," said Katerman.
Investigators said the two men took off on foot. They will be checking with local businesses in the area to see if the men might have been captured on surveillance video.
