Man shot and killed at bus stop
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man as he sat at a bus stop bench, Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Northwest 15th Avenue and 36th Street at around 5:30 p.m.
According to police, a man was sitting at a bus stop bench when a man walked up to him, shot him and walked away. "I just heard the shot, and I saw the guy walking this way, and he collapsed," said a witness.
The victim attempted to cross Northwest 36th Street, but collapsed and died on the street before he could get help.
Police said several people saw the suspect walk off towards the direction of 15th Avenue. It is unclear if there was a vehicle waiting for him. "We are also speaking to business owners as well as stopping the bus and trying to recover any sort of surveillance video that may have caught the crime," said Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Reyes. "At this point, we need information as to the whereabouts of this gunman."
The gunman is described as a male in his early 20s who was last seen wearing a white shirt. "We do know that someone knows where the gunman is. At this point, we just need to identify him and locate him or have him surrender and come to us," said Reyes.
A motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.
Police continue to investigate.
