Homes evacuated while crews investigate gas leak in Weston
WESTON, Fla. (WSVN) -- Residents have been asked to evacuate their homes in a neighborhood in Weston while Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and Hazmat crews work to contain an underground gas leak in the area, Monday afternoon.
Around 12:25 p.m., residents reported bubbling underground from behind a residence near the 100 block of Grenada Avenue.
According to officials, the two-inch natural gas line runs through the Weston area but is owned by the City of Sunrise.
Crews have a prolonged digging operation in progress to locate the leaks.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies are restricting traffic in the area, and some nearby homes have been evacuated.
