Weston gas leak capped after evacuation
WESTON, Fla. (WSVN) -- Crews have given the all-clear after they asked residents to evacuate their homes to contain an underground gas leak in the area, Monday afternoon.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and Hazmat crews reported to the area around 12:25 p.m. Residents had reported hearing a bubbling sound coming from the ground behind a residence near the 100 block of Grenada Avenue.
Crews had to dig into the ground to locate the leak.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies had to block off traffic in the area, and some nearby homes had to be evacuated until the all clear was given.
According to officials, the two-inch natural gas line runs through the Weston area, but is owned by the City of Sunrise.
