Elderly man robbed outside local Kabbalah center
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A 75-year-old man was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by two males who knocked him to the ground and stole his jewelry last week.
According to North Miami Beach Police, the grandfather of two was walking to his car after getting a book last Wednesday from the Kabbalah Center located on and Biscayne Boulevard, near 163rd St. in North Miami Beach when the robbers ambushed him. The victim said, two men in light gray hoodies and white dust masks knocked him to the ground and stole his gold necklace and bracelet. "They ripped the gold chain right off my neck," he said.
The victim suffered minor injuries to his neck and left wrist. He showed us the bandage on his arm, the cuts on his neck, the marks still left on his wrist, and the blood in his car. However, he did not want to show his face on camera. "They pushed me, they dragged me, they put a gun over my head," said the victim.
The victim said this happened at around 2:30 in the afternoon. He said he screamed for help. "I tried to scream, but nobody helped me," he said. "I was on the ground."
He is bruised physically but also emotionally as well, too afraid to show you his face but brave enough to share his story hoping these violent crooks will be caught before they hurt someone else. "Still I have a trauma about," he said. "I can't sleep at night. I see the gun over my head all the time."
After the attack, the men fled in a dark gray Volkswagen Jetta with Florida license tag 673YUP. However the tag is registered to a silver four-door Toyota rental car.
The suspects are described as two skinny black males between the ages of 18 and 23.
The victim shared a picture of the chain. "The gold chain is 18 carat. It's heavy, it's full. I figure it's worth between five and six thousand, at least."
