Family pleas for clues after loved one killed in robbery
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Loved ones are issuing a desperate plea after a robbery took the life of a family man.
The family of 58-year-old Marcus Vaughin Smith made a plea Wednesday to the public for anyone with information to come forward, which would lead to the arrest of the people who shot him.
Smith, was standing outside of his mother-in-law's house at Northwest Sixth Avenue and 44th Street, supervising home improvements. Just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, the gunmen ambushed him with the intention of robbing him. Smith was later pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Smith, who worked corrections for Miami, always put family and friends before himself. "That's the kind of guy that my father was," said Chris Smith, the victim's son. "He was loving. He was always willing to go out of his way to help others."
