Local church raising money to replace stolen AC unit
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The congregation at a South Florida church is hoping to warm hearts to help replace an air conditioning unit that was stolen from their house of worship.
Worshippers at the National Church of God have spent the entire summer sweating it out after their two AC units were stolen on two separate occasions, the most recent taking place in May. They have only been able to replace one.
"Everybody's shirts are wet, and it's really horrible," said Pastor Otis Williams.
Church members came together Sunday to collect money to replace the second unit. "We are going to press our willpower, and we're going to depend on God to deliver us, and that we'll be able to replace our air conditioning."
The stolen units were likely sold off for scrap metal, worth pennies on the dollar, but Pastor Willis said they will cost thousands of dollars to replace.
The pastor said he holds no ill will towards the alleged perpetrators. "Through it all, we pray that Gob bless the persons, that God bless them real good."
No arrests have been made for either of those AC thefts.
