Police: Fortune teller conned woman out of $838K
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The future is looking grim for a South Florida fortune teller accused of ripping off a customer.
Thirty-three-year-old Peaches Miller was arrested and charged with grand theft and extortion of property. Police said she defrauded a California woman of more than $838,000 by scaring her into thinking she could protect her from evil spirits that were out to kill her.
Miller allegedly said she would use that money to buy specific items promised to ward off those "evil spirits." She is being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach.
