Locals celebrate new royal baby boy
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- South Florida residents are celebrating the announcement of the new royal baby boy.
At Fox and Hounds British Pub in Oakland Park people celebrated after Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William's wife, gave birth to their first son on Monday. "I think it's fabulous. I think it's great for Britain," said a man.
Patrons at the bar eagerly watched the TVs for the announcement. "People were coming in all day asking if the baby was born, so we've been watching Channel 7, and we've been watching CNN, and all of a sudden it came up," said Robbie Cunningham from Great Britain.
At Waxy O'Connor's Irish Pub & Restaurant in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, people were also excited about the news. "I'm excited for them, obviously. I live in the States now, so I'm a bit out of the loop, but it's good stuff," said Guy Hutcheson.
Kate delivered at 4:24 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces. The baby is third in line of succession after His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness, the Duke of Cambridge.
The baby's name has not been released.
