15-year-old shot on sidewalk in front of home
SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager who was gunned down in front of his father's home.
The shooting happened at about 10:43 p.m. Sunday. Relatives said 15-year-old Bobby Gibson Jr. was a good teen who loved to play sports. "He loved playing football and basketball," said an unidentified woman. "He's a sweet person. I don't know who would want to do anything like that to him."
Family members said the teen was found shot dead outside his father's home. Neighbors said they heard gunshots. "I just heard like something that sounded like firecrackers, fireworks, like four times," said a woman who wished to remain anonymous.
Edward Butler said he came running down the street and found police trying to save the teenager's life. "When I got here, police officers were working on him right here on the sidewalk, and the other police officer told him he expired," he said.
The teen's family is now mourning their loss and neighbors are on edge. "It breaks her heart to see it because he was only 15 years old," said Butler. "He didn't get a chance at life."
