Several drivers get flats near same I-95 ramp
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Almost a dozen drivers were left flat during the morning rush Tuesday after running over some sort of metal object while trying to join traffic on the same ramp to Interstate 95.
A series of drivers trying to grab I-95 southbound near the Opa-locka exit, at around 8 a.m, hit the metal object over and over, and that object hardly spared a tire it touched. One driver noted that everyone who struck that object was left with two flat tires on the front and rear passenger side of their vehicles.
The series of tire blowouts caused a rather chaotic scene as some drivers tried to change tires, call tow companies or friends and family to come over and help them out.
Steve was among the frustrated commuters who ran over this metal object. "Next thing I know, I hear, flip, flip, flip, flip. My tires are flat. I said, 'OK, one tire, no problem.' I pull off the road, and I see other cars on the shoulder and two tires are flat, the passenger side. That's what happened to everybody."
The Florida Highway Patrol has not reported yet on what exactly that object was or how it got on the Interstate. They are saying they are investigating.
The object was removed and traffic is once again free-flowing on the highway.
