Las Olas bridge to close Tuesday night
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials will be closing all lanes on the East Las Olas Boulevard Bridge beginning Tuesday night.
All eastbound traffic will be detoured to Sunrise Boulevard via U.S. 1, and all westbound traffic will be detoured to Sunrise Boulevard via A1A.
All lanes will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday and will re-open at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
According to officials, the closure is necessary to allow the contractor to pour the concrete deck on the northeast side of the bridge. Another closure is scheduled in August to allow crews to finish the deck on the northwest side of the bridge.
The construction project is part of the $5.8 million Las Olas Boulevard Bridge rehabilitation project that includes the reconstruction of bridge concrete decks, replacement of bridge joints, installation of new pedestrian railings, installation of new traffic railings and installation of aluminum sidewalks along the movable portions of the bridge.
