Bar brawl caught on video goes viral
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating a bar fight that was caught on cell phone video that later went viral on social media.
A violent fight was caught on cell phone video outside a popular bar, Dirty Blondes in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday afternoon. "They were basically having a verbal altercation. It happened in a blink of an eye," said Cameron who caught the fight on his cell phone.
"I caught a good amount of it. I saw one bouncer put one person in a headlock, and I saw the other bouncer basically hit someone while they were down and stomped on their head," said Cameron.
Friends Alexander Coelho, 29, and David Parker, 27, his sister Stephanie and another woman, were hanging out at the bar. They said they sent a drink back, which led to an argument with the bartender and got all four of them kicked out of the bar. "They weren't really arguing. I think they should have left before anything had happen, but it looked like it was too late by then," said Cameron.
One bouncer is seen on video grabbing Parker. Coelho turned to his right to look, and that's when a second bouncer leapt over and punched Coelho. Coelho can be seen on the video stumbling back to the ground. The same bouncer stomped his foot on Coelho's face.
According to Coelho's attorney, he fractured bones in his face.
Broward Circuit Court Judge John Hurley addressed Coelho in bond court, alluding to more details beyond the fight with the bouncers. "Mr. Coelho, you allegedly, unprovoked, suddenly approached a police officer, pushed the police officer on the chest. You will be out of jail shortly. Thank you, don't go back to Blondes, sir."
Parker was later arrested that same night. "Allegedly fighting with security," said Hurley, "returned to the rear of Dirty Blondes challenging the security to a fight, and when the police got there said you were under arrest, you took off running."
Brief video footage of the fight with bouncers went viral and prompted a boycott on Dirty Blondes' Facebook page. Management at the restaurant said they regret the matter in a statement: "While we do not condone the actions displayed in the 15-second video circulating, no further statements on what led up to, during or after the incident ensued will be issued until we review the matter internally with all parties involved."
Charges are still pending for Coelho and Parker.
Dirty Blondes management did not comment on the situation on camera.
