Charges dropped against backwards jogger
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A judge has dropped charges against a man cited by police for jogging backwards in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach Police ticketed Alex Mesa for obstructing traffic while jogging backwards back in April.
In a hearing Monday afternoon, a judge said police had charged Mesa under the wrong statute.
The judge dropped the charges and advised Mesa to stay in the bike lane while jogging backwards. As long as he is not zig-zagging in the middle of the street, he should not be bothered, the judge said.
Mesa said, he just wants to put the incident behind him. "It's been a big blessing and I'm very happy that from here on it shouldn't be any conflict with me and law enforcement because legally I'm able to jog in the bike lane," said Mesa.
