No bag policy in effect at Sun Life Stadium
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- The NFL has placed a no bag policy for fans the next time they visit Sun Life Stadium.
The new bag policy will be in effect starting Aug. 24 for all events at Sun Life Stadium including University of Miami Hurricanes games. "Effective on Saturday night, on Aug. 24, the Miami Dolphins versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. The policy will be as follows: fans will be allowed to bring one clear vinyl or PVC, see-through bag that is no larger then 12 inches by six inches by 12 inches," said Sr. VP Operations Sun Life Stadium Todd Boyan.
Season ticket holders will receive one clear plastic bag for very two seats.
Boyan said this new policy will allow security checks to run quicker. "A clear-sided bag has the ability to be scanned much easier and more effectively, so the search will be more effective, but it will also be quicker."
Fans can purchase the NFL-approved bag or can bring their items in a one-gallon plastic freezer bag.
Clutch bags with a shoulder strap or a wrist strap, no larger then approximately four-and-half by six-and-half inches will be allowed. "We do encourage people not to bring bags if at all possible. It will certainly speed their entry into the stadium, but if they do elect to, they'll have the information about the enhanced policy that has been established," said Boyan.
Fans can continue to enjoy their tailgate activities with their usual items in the parking lots.
Season ticket holder Tila Falic Levi said the new policy will be an adjustment but understands the necessity. "We do live in dangerous times, but at the same time, it's a family event, so I'm sure people have weighed out the pros and cons, and they've made the right decision," said Levi. "As a fan who goes to every single game with my family, I don't want to be limited in what I take, but I do appreciate the security measures that are being taken now."
