Burglars steal thousands in grilling supplies
WEST MIAMI-DADE (WSVN) -- Police are investigating a burglary where crooks were caught by surveillance cameras stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Miami business.
On video, the one man is seen jumping the fence near the home and garden section at the Ace Home Center at 13740 S.W. 8th St. in West Miami-Dade. Once inside, he started grabbing anything he could get his hands on.
The man is then seen taking a ladder and trying to pass it over the fence to his partner, who was wearing a green shirt.
Assistant store manager Rommel Valverde pointed out the men's big mistake. "I would assume if they were pros they would have used masks. You can see on the video they weren't wearing any masks."
Another view shows a man in gray, pulling boxes from the shelves. He walks them down the aisle and hands them off, before coming back and grabbing more. "They took some coolers, they took barbecues, barbecue accessories. They also took some ladders," said Valverde.
Valverde hopes someone will see the video and help put these men behind bars. "This is a pretty good neighborhood. We never had any issues. We didn't know that we had that type of people roaming around the store like that."
The burglars made off with several grills, grill parts, ladders and an outdoor shed, according to Valverde.
He said the crooks took off with about $5,000 worth in merchandise.
He believes the two men had a car waiting somewhere off camera.
