2 aides to mayoral candidate facing charges
MIAMI (WSVN) -- The Miami Herald is reporting that prosecutors have charged two of Commissioner Francis Suarez's aides with unlawfully submitting absentee-ballot requests on-line on behalf of voters.
Thursday night, his campaign manager Steve Suarez and campaign aide Juan Baggini were charged with misdemeanors.
The State Attorney's Office ruled earlier in their investigation that Commissioner Francis Suarez did nothing wrong.
Suarez later released this statement: "It is in the best interest of all concerned that the dispute has been resolved. As I stated previously, we have cooperated fully with this investigation from the beginning. To be clear, there was no allegation that either of them committed any fraud or had any intent to violate Florida election law. The campaign has learned from this experience."
