Parents of boy with brain-eating amoeba optimistic
LABELLE, Fla. (WSVN) -- The parents of a southwest Florida boy who is fighting for his life after contracting a rare infection that is attacking his brain remain optimistic.
The parents of Zachary Reyna posted on a Facebook page dedicated to the young boy on Thursday that read in part:
"Zac, you're amazing. I love you, and I couldn't be prouder. You've made your daddy cry more than he ever has but lately, it's been cries of joy. I'm so thankful for everything you have done in my life. I was blessed when you were born, and as you lay here fighting for your life, you are saving so many others."
The seventh grader remains in the ICU at Miami Children's Hospital.
