Woman happy to see man who ran her over arrested
HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested a man who is accused of robbing and running over a woman for her purse. Now the victim is relieved to be able to begin the process of moving forward and healing.
"His face was in my mind," Sara Delgado said. "It was engraved in my mind."
Twenty-six-year-old John Croissy is the reason, according to Delgado, why she is in pain and faces extreme medical bills. "I was assaulted, robbed and dragged and ran over," Delgado said.
The attack took place on Aug. 5, at the Sunoco gas station off North Homestead Boulevard. Surveillance video from the gas station caught Croissy, according to officials, reaching into Delgado's car and grabbing her purse.
"He looked at me straight in the eyes and panicked," Delgado said.
Croissy would then retreated to his sport utility vehicle, but not before he took Delgado with him. "He took my hand, put it on the steering wheel and decided to take me with him and drag me and let go of me, little by little," Delgado said.
Once Delgado was free, she felt the wheels of the SUV run over her. She spent time in the hospital due to the injuries as a result of the attack while detectives spent time tracking Croissy. He would later be arrested in his North Miami home.
Croissy faced a judge in bond court and the judge decided Croissy would stay in jail without bond. Michael Felix was also arrested with Croissy. Police said Felix was not at the scene when Delgado was run over, but he was the getaway driver for two burglaries Croissy is suspected of having committed.
Delgado hopes that since her attacker is now behind bars, she will be able to sleep easier without nightmares. "I still have fear, but now I feel at least somewhat at peace that he was caught," Delgado said.
Due to the injuries and surgeries needed, Delgado faces medical bills of up to $175,000. Power Financial Credit Union has set up an account so people can donate to help her pay for her medical bills:
