Local firefighters to assist in Oregon
PLANTATION, Fla. (WSVN) -- A group of South Florida firefighters will be heading out of state in an effort to help combat wildfires in Oregon.
The trio will join a group of specially-trained responders to help put out the wildfire near Grants Pass, Oregon. The fire has burned more than 23,000 acres.
Barry Stearns from the Plantation Fire Department, Lt. David Radzivill of Tamarac Fire Rescue, and Bobby Brown, Jr. of the Seminole Tribe Fire Rescue will serve as communication specialists with firefighters on the front lines. Radzivill said, "The weather out there is pretty unpredictable, anything can happen on a moment's notice. Where we're going to be is at the command post, which is actually a little remote from the actual fire line itself."
The three members will meet up with the rest of the team in Oregon, this weekend.
